Sure, we may be familiar with the current trends in package design, but when it comes to high end packaging design, a bit more comes into play. Customers should be able to see and feel luxury conveyed in these products simply by looking at them and touching them before they have even been opened. Keeping this in mind, here are a few tips for creating a high end package design that will make your product stand out for its elegance and class.
Use Contrast with Smooth Finishes:
Talk to your packaging designer about creating a design that features smooth finishes with contrast. Nothing oozes elegance quite like a smooth finish. Contrast this with other elements to add dimension to the package. One example of this is putting 2D metallic print on a smooth surface bag or box to achieve a luxurious feel and eye catching design.
High End Materials:
High end materials are necessary in your luxury package design. Although cutting costs by using less expensive material may be tempting, customers will immediately be able to feel and see the difference and may question the authenticity of your product if you go this route. Be sure your packaging design company uses the finest materials when creating your packaging.
Quality Packaging:
The quality of your packaging will not only be apparent in the materials you use, but in the way your package is constructed. Be sure not to cut any corners in this attention to detail.
Clear and Simple:
When thinking of the design on your packaging, clear and simple is the way to go. A simple design will exude class while one that it excessive and overcrowded can appear cheaper. Be sure to use easily readable, bold fonts and simple shapes.
Be Authentic:
No matter how classy you want to be, it is imperative that you don’t forget your brand identity and what you represent. It is important to maintain this in your packaging design. While simple designs work well, you can afford to be more extravagant if you feel that is what your brand calls for.
Create Anticipation:
Some brands are able to create a sense of suspense and mystery in their product unveiling by creating layers to open like a translucent layer to softly reveal the product. Companies that incorporate these elements must be sure to walk the fine line between building mystery and making a package that is difficult to open. They must also be sure to create a design that is well manufactured as a poorly designed unveiling experience can increase customer returns.
