Technology moves at the speed of light in today's world, and naturally graphic design firms have to jump on the same fast track. You have to wonder if graphic designers even have a chance to blink, if they do, they may be left behind. So just how much influence does technology actually have on graphic design?
Graphic Design evolves on a continuous level. To say it changes annually, would be a significant understatement, at times it may change daily. If you visit any of the graphic design firms, for example, Lien Design, in San Diego, California, you would observe the graphic designers pushing themselves, and pursuing the boundaries as never before. Just as soon as a new innovative package design is developed, and implemented, it may become outdated, and the graphic designer must continue to think outside the box, and push the boundaries, there really are no limits to creativity.
Consumers expect to look at the internet and see vivid colors, and great graphics, and if that is not what they see, then they are not blown away. Which is exactly what should happen. Over the past decade, we have all seen graphics explode on the internet, and with the ever-changing technology in computers, they can handle those detailed graphics without a problem. Just a few short years ago, graphic design firms had to be cognizant of how creative they were, if the computer was too slow in the display process, or would not load the graphic, then it was a flop. In today's world, of modern tech, the screens can not only handle those vivid graphics, they literally make them jump out of the screen, it's called 3D.
With the aid of design applications, keeping up with technology, there are essentially no limits. This gives a whole new empowerment to graphic designers like Lien Design, there is nothing to hold them back in the development of the perfect design for their customer. Looking at a tablet has become similar to looking through the looking glass, it's clear, and it's like looking into another world. Higher resolutions and creativity of those amazing graphic designers bring the entire world right to the consumer, and right where they are at that moment.
Thinking back to the 1990’s...
the Internet was extremely limited in what could be displayed, and the last thing anyone wants is “page cannot load”. Graphic designers had to be creative, however, there were huge limitations on that creativity, the internet simply could not handle it. Today, however, the sky is not the limit, the universe is. With the graphic design programs, and great design firms as Lien Design in San Diego, California, all it takes is a talented graphic design artist, and the intended web page will be a vibrant illustration that grasps the consumer's attention, and fascinates them, holding their attention to that page. The average shopper no longer expects to look at a web page and think it looks good, they expect to be immersed with that page. If only for a moment they are in a world, sharing it with the design on their computer screen.
There is no doubt, there has never been a more exciting an evolving time for graphic design. Where there once were limits, such as pages loading, and colors not properly displaying, those limits have been removed, and replaced with a giant universe of possibilities.
It may be hard to imagine that anything could improve and get better with graphic design on the internet, however, I'm sure those same thoughts circulated back in 1995, you know, eventually the page “may” load.
Today must be a very exciting time for graphic design firms, and creative designers, but at the same time, one must wonder what happens if they blink, they may very well get left behind.
The next time there is a great visual on that computer screen, consider the fact, it is a unique combination of the massive speed of technology, and the very creative mind of a graphic designer. The creativity of the mind behind the illustration and graphics that lure you into another world.
